Terrorists Strategy For de Aztec Map

2008/08/22

Proving to be one of the best maps ever, Aztec is also one of the greatest strategic maps ever created. In this map, the key point is teamplay and defending each other. Camping may also be a tactic, if done right and in the correct position. For Aztec, I will be providing you with general information, T strategies, CT strategies, frag hints (designed for a pub player), and sniping/camping locations.

General Information
Aztec is a large and very open map so I would suggest the long-range weapons and toggling scope weapons (AUG, AWM, the AK, SIG, the Colt, and sometimes the Scout). If you are low on funds and could only afford a TMP or MP5 Navy, stay close to the bridge to defend your teammates. It is advisable that you move stealthily and cautiously in this wide open map. Turning a corner may cause you to confront three well-armed opponents. Most of the time, you will come in contact with an enemy at the bridge, the double doors, or the water underneath the bridge.

The primary bombsite is the one in the open, near the second set of double doors. The secondary bombsite is located closer to the bridge and the CT spawn.

The double doors and primary bombsite become a major role in the strategy of a terrorist player. In this area, I suggest you move slowly and methodical to survive! The weapon you carry should be an AK, SIG, or MP5 so you can move quickly when you move. An AWM is useless here. Now run to the bombsite, with the bomb, and hide behind the boxes to avoid any wandering CTs coming from the right. When all is clear, plant the bomb and head towards the CT wooden doors. Sit here and pick off any other CTs who try and come to defuse the bomb. Now, an AWM may be good because you have a wider and closer view to attack any CTs coming to defuse the bomb. Remember, as a sniper, you should stay still.

The water and secondary bombsite are two areas where CTs wait to pick you off. For starters, keep an eye out on the bridge so you do not be maimed or hit there. Keep on the dry banks and away from the water, it slows you down too much. Also, the water emits a sound when someone goes in and comes out of it. Run up the stairs ahead to the right and keep clear of the other ramp because it gives you no cover what-so-ever. Continue to start moving towards the CT sniper loft. Here you can pick off a few AWM snipers with a flank. Once you reach the bombsite, place the bomb behind the crate and take cover behind another crate until you hear a CT trying to defuse the bomb. Immediately emerge and attack your enemy.

The suspension bridge is one of the toughest locations in this map to pass. Other than the CT sniping loft across the bridge, you also have to watch out underneath you! A lot of CTs run underneath the bridge to get up to the terrorist base easier. So a smoke grenade may be helpful to get across when you have realized that the CT sniping loft is clear of CTs. Before going anywhere, check down with a toggling scope rifle, preferably the SIG, and eliminate any CTs. If there is an enemy on the opposing side of the bridge, throw a flashbang, charge them quickly, and attack any CTs camping or waiting for you there. Note: If there is a problem with any CTs on the opposite side of the bridge, jump down INTO the water. Make sure you land in the water because you won't become hurt!

Map strategies de Aztec

Counter-Terrorists

Being a counter terrorists is pretty easy, if you have a good team and a scout, or even better, an AWP. You can camp or rush. For camping, camp in either: The blocks near the bomb site for the big one near the double-doors, or right behind the block in bomb-site A, or the block near bombsite A, at/near the CT buy zone. To rush, call 40% of your team to charge the double-doors. A few Ts should be there, and if you are playing against bots, 70% of the terrorist team should be there. Then, call 40% of your team to go down into the water. They should meet some terrorists there. The other 20%, the nooblets, should camp at bomb-site A and/or B (yes, this is out of the topic, but it still works.) OR at the bridge, where they should meet the other noob terrorists (I'm talking from experience; when I was a nooblet, I always used the bridge). The people at the bridge should meet up with the other people, or "backstab (shoot in the back) of other terrorists if the 40% charging at the double doors are not done killing the group. Near the end of the campaign, when there is one person left, everyone should go in groups of two to kill the remaining survivor.

Terrorists

There aren't many tactics here. Camping is not recommended, since there isn't much to camp for, so we will use rushing. For terrorists, rushing is simple. Just rush in one, big, fat group. It is recommended you rush: over the bridge, or in the water. The T doors don't give much of a good angle to shoot at, unless you were a sniper and you had a AWP, allowing you to shoot at people at the bomb B site. Another way is that you can all rush at the bridge. After rushing to the middle, jump into the water so you don't get hurt. Then make your way into a site, preferable site B, since you could go to site A from the bridge. This is where camping is useful; camp at the places a CT would camp.

Weapons

This isn't really a place for short range weapons, like a shotgun. However, if you are a person good with shotguns (like me, I get headshots with shotguns at long-range with a 1% chance =]), use it. If you are flexible with all weapons, go snipe. Otherwise, buy a automatic rifle. SMGs are not recommended, unless you are SUPER poor. There is a tactic that you could use. First, at the buy zone (this is for CTs), buy a flashbang and a TMP. Make your way to either the bridge, or the double doors (this can also be used later in the game). When you see an enemy, take out your flashbang and throw it at them while not looking at the flashbang. THROW IT DIRECTLY AT THEM. Then, using the silenced weapon, shoot them. They will not know where you are, since the weapon is silenced and the flashbang deafens your enemy. Make short work of the terrorist. hold your trigger-finger if they are SUPER close, otherwise, shoot in bursts. However, the TMP doesn't have much of a recoil (I think, so I think you should spray and pray.

Conclusion

As you can see, de_aztec is a good place to go for people of all kinds, besides noob shotgunners or noob machine gunners. Also, the map is pretty simple; its just a place with a bridge, a canal, and stairs (a man, a plan, a canal, Panama)(use that if you can't remember anything, lol =]). Go there to practice your sniping skills if needed. Or, you can just go to www.csnation.com (I think that was the website) and install an AWP map. That sums it up. I hope you enjoyed this guide, and feel free to edit it, as long as your extra stuff can help people.
